United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)  – oversees lawful immigration to the U.S. Learn about citizenship and naturalization, family-based or employment-based immigration green cards, workforce employment eligibility verification, plus more.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Enforces the country’s immigration laws and deportation/removal operations, including mandatory detention.

ICE Online Detainee Locator System – use this page to locate a detainee who is currently in ICE custody, or who was released from ICE custody for any reason within the last 60 days.

Bureau of Consular Affairs – an arm of the U.S. Department of State responsible for issuing  passports, visas and other travel documents allowing lawful immigrants and visitors to travel to the United States.

Visa Bulletin – gives information on the cut-off dates for visa availability in certain immigrant visa categories.

U.S. Embassy or Consulate – conducts consular processing for persons living abroad but wishing to apply for a green card for lawful permanent residence.

Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) – an arm of the Department of Justice responsible for interpreting and administering the country’s immigration Laws and adjudicating immigration cases.

Office of the Chief Immigration Judge – EOIR office overseeing the nation’s immigration judges and immigration courts, including the New York City Immigration Court.

Regional Centers – provide an avenue for prospective investors to obtain an EB-5 immigrant visa to enter the U.S. for the purpose of investing in an American enterprise.

Commerce and Navigation Treaty Countries – Citizens of member states may immigrate to the U.S. for the purpose of engaging in international trade or investing capital in a U.S. business.

Electronic System for Travel Authorization – operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, utilized by people traveling to the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program.

American Immigration Council – educates citizens about the contributions immigrants have made to this country; advocates for sensible and humane immigration laws and policies.
